About Us
Inkwood Heirlooms began shortly after the birth of our second child, when we created tree ring prints from a stack of firewood for our daughter’s nursery. While the natural patterns were visually striking on their own, we felt there was an opportunity to create something more meaningful - artwork that could reflect the people and moments that shape a family over time.
With backgrounds in environmental science and forestry, we had spent time studying tree growth through annual rings. We were drawn to the idea that each ring represents a single year in the life of a tree - a quiet record of time, growth, and history. Naturally, we began experimenting with aligning our family members’ birth years to the corresponding rings within the tree itself.
After countless refinements, the concept evolved into colourized heirloom designs that honour each individual within a family through the natural history of the tree.
What began as a personal piece for our own home quickly resonated with friends and family, who asked for designs of their own. From there, Inkwood Heirlooms grew into a collection of thoughtfully personalized artwork inspired by nature, family, and meaningful connection.
