Inspired by Real Trees

Our designs originate from real tree slices that were hand-pressed and digitized. Each ring represents a year of growth - allowing your family’s birth years to align with the natural history of the tree itself.

FAQ

What is the maximum number of names I can include in my family tree?

You can have up to 20 names in your family tree. We are always looking for suggestions to improve, please Contact Us if you want to suggest including more names.

More than one person was born the same year, how do I include them all on my family tree?

People who were born in the same year should be added as separate names with the same colour for all of the people born in the same year.

How is the artwork created?

Each Inkwood Heirlooms design originates from a real tree ring print created using wood, ink, and paper. After hand-pressing the original tree slices, we carefully refined and digitized selected designs to create customizable heirloom artwork inspired by the natural growth of the tree itself.

Every personalized piece is made to order using professional fine art printing processes selected to preserve the detail, texture, and character of the original design. Our artwork is available as digital downloads, matte-finish paper pieces, and framed canvas artwork.

To ensure reliable delivery throughout North America, production is fulfilled through trusted professional printing partners chosen for their quality standards and craftsmanship.

Can a family tree be updated in the future?

We understand that families continue to grow over time, much like the trees that inspired our artwork.

Because each design is carefully composed around the specific names, years, colours, and layout selected at the time of creation, adding additional family members to a completed piece would require the artwork to be redesigned as a new custom heirloom.

Many families choose to create updated versions over the years to reflect new chapters and generations as their story continues to grow.

What is the oldest tree you have?

Our current Heirloom Collection includes tree ring designs created from trees that are 38, 77, 102, and 117 years old.

Because every tree grows differently, each design carries its own unique character, history, and natural growth patterns - allowing families to choose a piece that feels personally meaningful to them.

New tree ring designs are released periodically for our Heirloom Collection as we continue refining and expanding the Inkwood Heirlooms archive. You can join our email list to be the first to hear about upcoming releases and new designs.
